I didn’t start naming, logging or labeling my beers until about the 13th batch. So, to start I simply named this one “Thirteen”. It fits well for this style, doesn’t it?

Altbiers are the traditional style of beer from Düsseldorf; “Alt” refers to the “old” style of brewing (i.e., using top-fermenting yeast) that was common before bottom-fermenting lager brewing became popular. Many of the classic “alt” examples can be found in brewpubs in the Altstadt (“old town”) section of Düsseldorf.
